Yul Ballesteros

Yul Ballesteros is a talented guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer hailing from Gran Canaria, Spain. His musical journey began at the age of 10, and after three years of study in Madrid, he earned a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in May 2007. Yul has since established himself as one of Spain's most accomplished jazz guitarists, collaborating with renowned artists such as Kevin Mahogany, Dave Samuels, and Ari Hoenig.

His latest album, "Alma," reflects his personal and musical evolution, showcasing compositions rooted in experience and emotion. Accompanied by Tana Santana on double bass and Akior García on drums, the Yul Ballesteros Trio creates a unified sound that feels like a single instrument. This elegant and nuanced work takes listeners on a journey through life’s deepest feelings, earning critical acclaim and the Best Jazz Album award at the 2023 Canary Islands Music Awards.

Beyond his trio, Yul is a key figure in the Canary Islands' jazz scene, co-founding the Big Band de Canarias and serving as resident arranger for the Gran Canaria Big Band. His discography includes notable works like "Solo," nominated for Best Jazz Album in 2017, and "Nine Tales From The Inner Space," recorded in Brooklyn with top New York musicians. In 2013, he received the prestigious Premio Gran Canaria for his contributions to music.

Yul’s versatility extends to his passion for teaching and performing worldwide. He conducts seminars across Spain and countries like the UK, France, and the US, while his live performances blend traditional jazz with innovative elements. His latest project, "Nine Tales From The Inner Space," available now, continues to push boundaries, offering a deeply personal exploration of sound and creativity.
